Perth nap May 12: Frontier can win Battle at Scone Palace

There’s some more competitive jumping action at Perth on Thursday, May 12 and Planet Sport’s Jonathan Doidge heads there for his tip.

The opening race on the card at Perth on Thursday is a maiden hurdle (14:15) that has 12 entrants. There are a few interesting runners, not least the potential improver Foxhollow.
However, Battle Frontier has been showing promise in Ireland, not least on his most recent start at Fairyhouse.
That day he tried to make all over 2m4f, when wearing a first-time hood and tongue-tie combination. He made a good fist of things until tiring late on. I think this drop back to 2m will be a positive for him, on that evidence.
He also has Brian Hughes booked for the leg-up and with the headgear retained, if similar forcing tactics are retained, he may not see another rival throughout.
He has the strongest form on offer in this field and I think Battle Frontier can march on to victory at Perth in the 14:15.
