Wednesday ITV racing tips: Best free bets for Chester and Newton Abbot on May 7

Chester's three-day May Festival is an important early fixture on the Flat calendar, as it provides trials for Epsom's Oaks and Derby in June.

ITV are showing five races from the oldest racecourse in the world, including the Cheshire Oaks (1435) and the Chester Vase (1505).

There's also some jumps action from Newton Abbot, for those of you already missing the proper National Hunt season.

Viamarie caught the eye a month ago delivering a 2L success attempting a 5f novice event at Kempton AW. Represents notable connections.

Miss Piggle made a winning debut last week by 2.5L attempting this journey at Southwell and holds claims, while Social Exclusion warrants a second look.

13:45 (Newton Abbot) Heltenham

Heltenham comes off a dominant 13-length win at Perth and looks tough to beat in the Kauto The King Handicap Chase if he holds that form for Team Skelton.

Yes Indeed impressed on return with a win here and should improve further - key contender.

Light N Strike has been ultra-consistent with placed efforts at both Ascot and Chepstow. Hard to leave out.

Bourbali hasn’t been far away in solid company and is worth keeping in mind for this.

Redorange ended last season winning over 6f at Yarmouth before returning with a smart third tackling a higher graded 5f handicap at Sandown twelve days ago.

Clive Cox's three year-old will be a leading player in the Ladbrokes Best Odds Guaranteed On Racing Handicap with Rossa Ryan in the saddle.

Ruby's Profit started the new campaign in winning form landing a lower class 5f handicap at Wolverhampton by 3.25L a month ago and makes for appeal.

Carrados enhanced a promising profile after a break when successful in a 5f Wolverhampton AW novice race, while Blinky bids for a hat-trick and looks interesting.

14:35 (Chester) That's Amore

Trainer Ralph Beckett and Rossa Ryan won the Cheshire Oaks last year with Forest Fairy and this season they team up again with That's Amore.

Produced a debut success last October by six lengths attempting a 1m novice event at Newbury and will be a leading player.

Aidan O'Brien maintains a strong record in this event having won five of the last nine renewals and can add to that with Minnie Hauk who confirmed debut promise with a 0.5L victory in a 1m Leopardstown maiden last October.

Queen Of Thieves is progressive. Off the mark at the third attempt winning by 11L over 1m3 1/2f at Yarmouth. More confident she stays the distance and is set to go well.

Secret Of Love recorded a 1m Listed second during November at Newmarket and holds claims.

15:05 (Chester) Lambourn

O'Brien has won six of the last ten renewals of the Chester Vase and Lambourn rates one of his strongest in this line-up after a smart 2.25L second tackling the G3 Ballysax Stakes six weeks back at Leopardstown..

Square D'Alboni completed a hat-trick last season following a heavy ground Listed success by 4L over 1m1f at Chantilly where form has worked out well and will be the main danger.

Pinhole improved in December when successful attempting a 1m novice race at Southwell AW.

Convergent arrives unbeaten following a pair of Redcar wins and looks one to note.

15:40 (Chester) Bob Mali

Course and distance winner Bob Mali started the new season with a strong second tackling a higher graded 6f handicap at Newmarket three weeks ago.

Ticks plenty of boxes in the Love Federal Capital Handicap for trainer Charlie Hills and with William Buick in the driving seat.

Hammer The Hammer bids for a hat-trick following a pair of Southwell AW wins including by 6L among this company over 6f. Rates highly.

Diligently ended 2024 with a narrow victory in a competitive 6f two-year-old event at York during August. Holds claims.

Cyclonite arrives after a consistent streak of all-weather form. Worth a second look.
