'No more excuses' - Date set for Liam Smith and Chris Eubank Jr rematch

Liam Smith stopped Chris Eubank Jr in the second round when the pair last squared off.

Liam Smith and Chris Eubank Jr will clash again at the AO Arena in Manchester on September 2.

The middleweight pair last met in January, with Smith stopping his opponent early in the fourth round.
Unhappy with the referee's intervention, Eubank Jr activated a contracted rematch clause and, following an earlier postponement due to an injury to Smith, a new date has been set for the rivalry to resume.
"I'm glad that the date is set now and we can look forward to getting rid of this itch that needs scratching," said Smith.
"I'm fully healed up now, injury-free, and I'm looking forward to finishing Chris Eubank Jr's career on September 2."
Eubank Jr added: "No more excuses, no more postponements. Smith can't run forever. September 2 is the day of my revenge."
