ATP Barcelona: Diego Schwartzman vs Dusan Lajovic

Diego Schwartzman and Dusan Lajovic are set to contest their sixth career meeting in Barcelona.

Schwartzman leads the rivalry 3-2 but in their last meeting, it was Lajovic who came up with the win.

That victory was also on clay and should give Lajovic confidence going into their Barcelona meeting.

Lajovic has enjoyed a better start to his clay swing and should be able to best the world No 142.

ATP Barcelona: Flavio Cobolli vs Rafael Nadal

Rafael Nadal makes a big return in a low-key match against Flavio Cobolli.

If he is fully fit, Nadal should have the beating of Cobolli.

Most will be focused on Nadal in this comeback match which should at least shield Cobolli from great pressure.

This will be the first-ever clash between these players.

ATP Bucharest: Lorenzo Sonego vs Joao Fonseca

Italian journeyman Lorenzo Sonego enjoyed a good run in Monte Carlo after coming through qualifying.

Teenager Joao Fonseca's No 274 ranking is not a good indicator of his ability but Sonego should have the grit to put him away.

Sonego is looking to secure a return to the top 50 this week and a first-round win would be a leap towards that.

Sonego and Fonseca have never played a singles match against each other.

ATP Bucharest: Corentin Moutet vs Denis Shapovalov

Corentin Moutet's experience and ability on clay give him an edge over Denis Shapovalov.

Shapovalov hasn't had the best start to his season as he has struggled with injury.

Moutet sports a much better career record on clay than Shapovalov and has played 20 matches on the surface this season already while the Canadian has managed one.

Moutet also leads the head-to-head between the players having beaten Shapovalov in 2021.

WTA Rouen: Martina Trevisan vs Naomi Osaka

Wildcard entry Naomi Osaka continues her comeback in Rouen with a tough first round assignment.

Clay is clearly Martina Trevisan's best surface and the same cannot be said for Osaka.

Osaka hasn't played much clay court tennis across her career.

Trevisan's experience will tell for a lot in this match and she should defeat the former world No 1.

WTA Rouen: Mayar Sherif vs Yue Yuan

Mayar Sherif gives up a 34-place rankings advantage to Yue Yuan but her familiarity with clay could be the difference.

Sherif also holds the lead in the head-to-head between the players, beating Yuan on clay in Makarska last term.

The signs point to Sherif winning this match with all her skills on clay.

Yuan has been a solid performer on the surface but lacks the attacking weapons to crack open this game.

WTA Stuttgart: Ekaterina Alexandrova vs Ons Jabeur

Someone who doesn't lack for weapons on clay is Ons Jabeur, and she will be out to contend for the title in Stuttgart.

Jabeur and Alexandrova have gone up against one another eight times on tour already.

The Russian leads their head-to-head 6-2 at the moment but it was Jabuer who won their last meeting.

That last clash was also in Spain, where Jabeur has a good record and enjoys playing.

WTA Stuttgart: Emma Raducanu vs Angelique Kerber

Emma Raducanu has her reservations about playing on clay but Stuttgart will be a good introduction to the swing.

Raducanu is set to be something of an honoured guest as a Porsche brand Ambassador.

Come what may this should be a good week for Raducanu even if she has a tricky first match.

Kerber seems as though she is yet to get back up to pace since returning to the tour but will have the German crowd behind her.
