Saturday's tennis acca tips: Novak Djokovic to face Jannik Sinner in Monte Carlo final

Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner are each one match win away from facing the other in the Monte Carlo Masters final.

Stefanos Tsitsipas and Casper Ruud will be out to spoil the party for one or both of the stars of tennis.

Here we make our picks for the Monte Carlo Masters semi-finals and selected Billie Jean King Cup matches.

ATP Monte Carlo Masters: Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Jannik Sinner

While Stefanos Tsitsipas holds a 5-3 head-to-head lead over Jannik Sinner it has been the Italian who has come out on top in their last two meetings.

Sinner has secured the No 2 ranking for now and will want to push on towards the top of the tree.

Tsitsipas has two title wins in Monte Carlo and shouldn't be written off here.

Sinner is perhaps the form player on the ATP Tour this season though and will be tough to beat.

 

ATP Monte Carlo Masters: Novak Djokovic vs Casper Ruud

Novak Djokovic meets another top clay courter in Casper Ruud in the last four.

Djokovic has won all five of the meetings between these players including their last meeting in the 2023 French Open final.

Ruud hasn't really looked like getting the better of Djokovic at any point in their head-to-head.

Djokovic will need to guard against complacency but should be able to get this one done.

 

Billie Jean King Cup: Celine Naef vs Iga Swiatek

Poland lead the Swiss 2-0 in the BJK Cup after wins from Iga Swiatek and Magdelena Frech on Friday.

Swiatek has a chance to clinch the tie when she takes on Celine Naef.

Naef faces perhaps the biggest single matchup of her life when she takes on the world No 1.

Swiatek should be able to put away her opponent in this match but Frech will have another chance to claim the tie later if she doesn't.

 

Billie Jean King Cup: Caroline Garcia vs Katie Boulter

Caroline Garcia's loss to Emma Raducanu on Friday has left this tie up in the air.

Katie Boulter has had a good season so far and could be out to capitalise on Garcia's doubts.

Boulter lost her singles tie against Garcia in the same BJK Cup last season and as it happens a year on Sunday.

Still the head-to-head between these players is 1-1 after Boulter won their first meeting and that last clash was also a tight affair.

 

Billie Jean King Cup: Viktoria Hruncakova vs Ela Nala Milic

Viktoria Hruncakova can clinch the tie for Slovakia after her win on Friday was well backed up.

Ela Nala Milic will be tasked with keeping Slovenia in the tie and alive in the qualifying process.

Milic is ranked No 812 in the world and would need to pull off something of a miracle in this one.

This will be the first ever meeting between these two players at any level.

 

Billie Jean King Cup: Simona Waltert vs Magdalena Frech

This match may end up being a dead rubber but that doesn't mean that Magdalena Frech will take it easy.

Poland have a 2-0 lead after Friday's action and Swiatek plays her match first.

Frech will be out to overturn a previous result between these players.

Waltert beat Frech in qualifying for the Lyon Open last season in a result that likely still stings for the Pole.

 

Billie Jean King Cup: Diane Parry vs Emma Raducanu

Emma Raducanu is braced for a first meeting with Diane Parry off the back of an inspiring win over Caroline Garcia.

Raducanu can build some momentum with another win on Saturday but might hope that Boulter sets her up to win the tie with an earlier triumph.

Raducanu has a good record in the BJK Cup and the format does seem to suit her game.

Parry won her first match on Friday but can expect a step up in difficulty if Raducanu maintains her level.

 

Billie Jean King Cup: Elina Svitolina vs Ana Bogdan

Ana Bogdan started her first match of the week well enough but saw a dramatic drop-off.

Svitolina meanwhile put away her opponent with relative ease and will be out to seal this tie as well.

There is no head-to-head between these players who have never contested a singles match against one another.

Romania need Bogdan to win to keep them in the tie and the pressure should tell.
