WTA Finals: Wins for Iga Swiatek and Caroline Garcia

World number one Iga Swiatek continued her indomitable form, beating Daria Kasatkina, while Caroline Garcia defeated Coco Gauff in the WTA Finals in Forth Worth, Texas.

Swiatek extended a winning streak against opponents in the top 10 to 13 in her fifth meeting with Kasatkina during their professional careers, with Swiatek winning her fourth of them 6-2 6-3.
The Polish star defeated her Russian opponent with ease, saving all three break points and continuing to excel in a season that has seen her rise to the top of the game.
"Last year I feel I struggled with problem solving," Swiatek said in her post-match press conference.
"This year I feel I have much more control of my emotions in sometimes difficult moments. So it's easier to think logically about what you want to change or what is the best option to win more points.
"Tennis-wise, I have more skills and more variety I would say I'm getting [to be a] more grown-up player on the court."
Meanwhile, Coco Gauff was defeated by Caroline Garcia 6-4 6-3.
France's Garcia, world number six, lined up a match against Swiatek with the win against better-ranked Gauff. It was the first time Garcia has defeated the American, having lost both of their previous meets.
"It was definitely a good match, pretty solid on my side," Garcia said after the match.

"I think I stayed really positive at every moment. [Coco] is always impressive to play against, it's always a lot of intensity and she can do so many things. It was very important for me to stay calm, stay on my game and what I wanted to do, and I think I did it good."
