Karolina Muchova vs Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova - Tuesday 6 June, Time: 10.00

We start off the day's action on Philippe Chatrier with an intriguing match-up between unseeded players in Muchova and Pavlyuchenkova. The winner of this clash will face either second seed Aryna Sabalenka or unseeded Elina Svitolina in the semi-finals, guaranteeing an unseeded player in the last four, and possibly in the final.

For Muchova, this is her first quarter-final appearance at Roland Garros, surpassing her previous best of reaching the third round in Paris. However, it is her fourth Grand Slam quarter-final overall.

The Czech player, currently ranked 27th in the world, has had a strong tournament, defeating eighth-seeded Maria Sakkari and 27th-seeded Irina Camelia-Begu. She has only dropped one set so far, which came in a second-round match against Nadia Podoroska.
On the other side, Pavlyuchenkova reached the Roland Garros final two years ago but missed last year's tournament due to a knee injury.
Currently ranked 112th in the world, she has climbed up from 333rd place with her quarter-final run and a win here could propel her back into the top 60. The Russian player has faced tough battles throughout the tournament, coming from behind to win three of her four matches, including an upset over 15th seed Liudmila Samsonova.
Given the competitiveness of both players and their performances in the tournament, it is anticipated that this match will go long, though a tricky one to call either way.

Suggested bets

Muchova to win the opener 6-2

Muchova to win the first set

Muchova to win a first-set tie-break

Set score prediction: Pavlyuchenkova to win in three sets

Elina Svitolina vs Aryna Sabalenka Tuesday 6 June, Time: 11.30

New ground awaits for Sabalenka and Svitolina, who are set to face each other for the third time in their careers.
Their most recent encounter was in the semi-finals of the 2020 Strasbourg tournament, where Svitolina emerged victorious with a scoreline of 6-2, 4-6, 6-4, their only match on clay to date.
Currently ranked second in the world, Sabalenka has been in fine form leading up to the quarter-finals. She defeated Marta Kostyuk, Iryna Shymanovich, Kamilla Rakhimova, and Sloane Stephens to reach this stage.

In her fourth-round match against Stephens, Sabalenka displayed her aggressive style of play, hitting 30 winners and winning 77 per cent of her first-serve points. She also broke Stephens' serve four times.

Sabalenka has been impressive throughout the tournament, not dropping a set and winning 57 per cent of the points she has played. Her overall record on clay in 2023 stands at 13-2.

As for Svitolina, currently ranked No. 192, she reached the quarter-finals by defeating Martina Trevisan, Storm Hunter, Anna Blinkova, and Daria Kasatkina. In her fourth-round match against Kasatkina, Svitolina hit 27 winners and won 61 per cent of her first-serve points, while breaking serve six times.

Svitolina has lost only two sets in the tournament so far, winning 54% of the points she has played and standout performance of the season came when she won the Strasbourg title, defeating Anna Blinkova in the final.
Both players have experienced success at the French Open in previous years, with Svitolina reaching the quarter-finals in 2015, 2017, and 2020, while Sabalenka is in her first quarter-final.
Neither have reached the last four here, so there should be nerves aplenty. Sabalenka's aggressive style might lead her to a quick win in this one, but the longer the game goes, the more it is likely to favour Svitolina.

Suggested bets

Sabalenka to win the first set

Sabalenka to win first set 6-4

Svitolina to dominate early on

Set score prediction: Svitolina to win in three sets
