Eight remarkable Iga Swiatek stats ahead of the French Open final

This weekend, Iga Swiatek will be looking to claim her second grand slam win when she takes on Coco Gauff in the 2022 French Open final.

While on one hand the 21-year-old is an easy-going character who reads books and listens to Led Zeppelin, on the other she is a stone-cold tennis killer who has been on a rampage for the last five months.  

With every match that goes by, Swiatek continues to make more history and break old records. This weekend, the Pole can further emphasize her dominance by reclaiming the Suzanne-Lenglen cup.

Ahead of the Saturday's final at Roland Garros, Planet Sport takes a look at eight incredible stats set by the Polish superstar.

Second longest WTA winning streak since 2000

Iga Swiatek's semi-final demolition of Daria Kasatkina extended her winning streak to 34 games.

Only one female player has won more successive games since the turn of the century, that being Venus Williams who enjoyed a 35 match winning run back in 2000.

Fourth longest winning streak in tennis since 2000

Swiatek's run is not only one of the longest in the women's game - it's one of the longest full stop.

Novak Djokovic holds the record having won 43 straight matches in 2011. Roger Federer is just one behind on 42 - a run he enjoyed back in 2006. 

However, considering Swiatek's current form, there's no reason why she couldn't challenge her male counterparts on this list.

Over 100 days since last defeat

On the day of the French Open final, Swiatek will have gone 110 days without defeat.
Her last loss came against Jelena Ostapenko in the second round of a tournament in Doha.

Targeting more silverware

We might be just six months into 2022, but Swiatek is already swimming in gold.
The 21-year-old has won five successive tournaments, including the Qatar Open, Indian Wells, Miami Open, Stuttgart Open and the Italian Open.
A win at Roland Garros would take her tally to six.

Most dominant player since Serena Williams

Swiatek is the first player since Serena Williams in 2013 to reach six finals in the first six months of the year.
Williams played in seven finals and won six as she claimed the Brisbane International, Sony Open, Family Circle Cup, Madrid Open, Italian Open and Roland Garros.

Incredible finals record

The 2020 French Open champion has won eight titles from nine final appearances on the WTA Tour.

Her first outing in a final was back in 2019 as she fell to a 3-6 6-3 3-6 defeat against Polona Hercog at the Ladies Open in Lugano.

Since then, Swiatek has won eight straight finals and hasn't dropped a single set along the way. If that wasn't impressive enough, she hasn't lost more than four games in any of her last 16 sets in finals. 

French Open master

During her 2020 triumph at Roland Garros, Swiatek didn't lose a single set. What's more, she never lost more than five games in a single match.
The Pole lifted the famous Suzanne-Lenglen cup after beating Sofia Kenin 6-4 6-1 in the final.

Going one better than Justine Henin

Justine Henin is a Roland Garros legend having won the tournament in 2006 and 2007 without losing a single set.
During those events, the Belgian conceded 39 and 38 games respectively.
As things stand, Swiatek has dropped one set at this year's French Open. However, the Pole has only dropped 29 games on her way to Saturday's showpiece.
