Daniil Medvedev wins ABN AMRO Open in Rotterdam

Former world number one Daniil Medvedev claimed his 16th Tour-level title when he won the ABN AMRO Open on Sunday.

The Russian star came back from a set down to defeat the talented Jannik Sinner 5-7 6-2 6-2 on the hard courts of Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
Not wanting to trade blows with Medvedev from the baseline, Sinner came to the net often in an attempt to upset his rhythm. The ploy worked, as he won 12 out of 17 net points to clinch the opening set.
But grand slam champions adjust and Medvedev turned up the power in the second set, forcing Sinner into a flurry of errors on his way to overcoming the world number 12, who racked up 30 unforced errors to Medvedev's 12 over the course of the final.
"It was a very tough match, I would say mentally for both of us, I think," said Medvedev, who will return to the top ten of the world rankings on Monday.
"Jannik was on top of me, especially in the first part of the first set. I managed to come back into the set even though, in my opinion, I was playing worse than him. Maybe that gave me some time to find my rhythm.
"I started playing just a little bit more offensive on a few shots, and it managed to work well at the beginning of the second set. I just managed to continue pushing him mentally down until the end of the match."

Meanwhile, across the Atlantic Ocean in Florida, Taylor Fritz overcame challenger Miomir Kecmanovic 6-0 5-7 6-2 to win the Delray Beach Open in front of his home crowd.

"My first time back here in quite a while and the event was amazing," said the American, who clinched his fifth ATP Tour title.
"The fans especially, the turnout was incredible and it makes me really proud to be an American playing at a home event, with how many people were in the stands.
"This year was incredible after losing in the first and second round [almost] every single year I'd been here. I couldn't be happier with coming back and having this result."
