Coco Gauff brimming with confidence as she heads to Australian Open

Fresh off her ASB Classic title in Auckland, American starlet Coco Gauff is heading to the Australian Open with her confidence sky-high.

The French Open finalist did not drop a set during her run to the ASB Classic final and clinched the title with a crushing 6-1 6-1 victory over Spanish qualifier Rebeka Masarova on Sunday.
It was Gauff's first tournament triumph since 2021 and the 18-year-old American, who lost just 22 games in her five matches, does not believe things could have gone much better.
"It gives me a lot of confidence, honestly," the top seed said on wtatennis.com.
"You never know how your first week is gonna go, could be good or terrible. Couldn't ask for a better start to my season - first title on hard (court) since I was 15. I'm happy to be successful on a surface that I love."
Aryna Sabalenka, meanwhile, reflected on how her game has changed since winning her last title as she claimed victory at the Adelaide International.
The world number five's previous trophy came at the Madrid Open in May 2021 but she ended her wait for an 11th career singles crown with a 6-3 7-6 (4) victory over Czech qualifier Linda Noskova.
The 24-year-old Belarusian said: "I think I'm a different player right now.
"Maybe a little bit smarter, a little bit calmer on court. Just a little bit of everything changed."
