ATP Next Gen 'not worth watching,' says former top ten ace Fabio Fognini

Standard of tennis beneath Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic slammed by veteran ace.

Fabio Fognini has branded the Next Gen on the ATP Tour as 'not worth watching' and says Roger Federer is the only player he'd buy a ticket to watch.
The 'Next Gen' is the term for the group of younger players who are attempting to replace Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic as the biggest stars in men's tennis.
Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas are the current front-runners, with the likes of Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and Felix Auger-Ailiassime beginning to emerge behind them.
Fognini, though, is not impressed and he has made his feelings on the future of men's tennis abundantly clear.
"Look, I'm going to be honest. Maybe it's because I'm from an older generation, but I don't like the future that is presented for this sport," Fognini said.
"It's all the same, the only thing you see are guys hitting forehand and serve bombs, I don't like it.
"When I retire from professional tennis I'm not going to see anything about this sport on television, nor am I going to pay for a ticket to see that, I don't think it's worth it.
"For whom I would pay a ticket is for Federer. I wish we could see him like in the old days. I love it, everything seems simple when he does it, but it's not. I don't know if we can see his best version again."
