Tottenham welcome Brighton to the capital for Saturday’s big clash between two European contenders on Saturday afternoon (1500 GMT).

Barring a spectacular collapse in form, Tottenham will bag themselves a spot in a European competition – the only question is, which one?

Finishing in the top four is unquestionably for the taking. Aston Villa currently occupy fourth spot, though with only two points separating the Villans and Spurs, it’s certainly all to play for.

Beating Brighton at the weekend would strengthen Tottenham’s bid for a Champions League return, however beating the Seagulls is easier said than done.

Roberto De Zerbi’s men are currently eighth in the table and they themselves are hopeful of securing a European spot this season.

Brighton are just three points adrift of sixth-placed Man Utd, meaning a return to continental football is still within reach.

With both teams setting their sights on a similar goal, what can we expect at the weekend?

In truth, Brighton’s unpredictability over recent weeks doesn’t make tipping any easier.

Last weekend, the Seagulls thrashed rivals Crystal Palace 4-1. A week prior they were hammered 4-0 by Luton. Few days earlier, they beat Sheffield United 5-2.

The only consistency when it comes to Brighton’s fixtures is a high volume of goals. This is also the case for Tottenham who remain the only team in the competition to have scored in every game.

Bearing that in mind, we’re backing the fans to be treated to a goal fest. Over 3.5 goals and both teams to get on the scoresheet is the way to go.

    Team news

Ryan Sessegnon and Manor Solomon will be on the sidelines for Tottenham this weekend. There are also doubts over Giovani Lo Celso.

Brighton, meanwhile, are missing Simon Adingra, Julio Enciso, Solly March, James Milner and Joel Veltman.
