Roma vs Feyenoord tips and predictions: Italians to maintain Euro dominance against Slot’s side

The 2022 Europa Conference League finalists, Roma and Feyenoord, will meet in the Europa League play-offs on Thursday (2000 GMT).

Roma have an advantage in qualifying for the next round after a 1-1 draw in the first leg, but the Italians have made hard work of this season despite recent improvement.

Daniele De Rossi’s side beat Frosinone 3-0 last weekend to open a three-point gap to seventh place despite losing 4-2 to Inter a week earlier.

The Romans parted ways with Jose Mourinho in January after a disappointing run of results left them in ninth in the league and second in their Europa League group.

In contrast, Feyenoord earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory against the unheralded Waalwijk despite having a numerical advantage for over 45 minutes. Feyenoord remain second in the league table, 10 points behind leaders PSV.

Arne Slot’s side dropped out of the Europa League after finishing third in a tough Champions League group featuring Atletico Madrid and Lazio.

Despite having their domestic struggles in comparison to last season’s title win, the Dutch side are unbeaten in 11 and look back to their best.

This will be the third consecutive season these sides have met in European football. Feyenoord won 1-0 at the De Kuip last April before an 89th-minute Paulo Dybala goal handed Roma a 2-1 home win a week later.

The Italians took care of business in extra time but were seconds away from crashing out. Much like that night, they’ll have to take care to guard against the counter-attacking threat.
