RB Leipzig vs Bayern Munich tips: Harry Kane to spearhead Bundesliga goalfest

In the biggest game of this Bundesliga weekend, RB Leipzig take on Bayern Munich on Saturday evening at the Red Bull Arena. Sergiu Baltuta, who runs SVB Tips on Tipstrr, takes a closer look.

Date, Kick-off time and TV coverage

German Bundesliga, Saturday September 30, kick-off 17:30, live on Sky Sports Football

Suggested bets:

Beside the fact that this will be a game between two top clubs in the table, it also gives the Bavarians a chance to avenge their pre-season Super Cup defeat, which Leipzig won 3-0, courtesy of a Dani Olmo hat-trick.

Despite that success, Leipzig’s Bundesliga start was far from ideal, going down 3-2 at Bayer Leverkusen in their opening game, but that remains their only wrong step this season.

They have enjoyed six consecutive wins in all competitions, four of which have come in the Bundesliga, with home wins against Stuttgart (5-1) and Augsburg (3-0), along with away wins at Union Berlin (3-0) and Borussia Monchengladbach (1-0).

In a tight Bundesliga table, they sit level on points with Stuttgray and Hoffenheim, and just a point behind today’s visitors, with league leaders Dortmund two a point further ahead.

Leipzig have supplemented their league form with a 3-1 Champions League win at Young Boys, and their most recent outing saw them win their midweek DFB-Pokal tie against Wehen.

So Marco Rose’s team is in excellent form before the visit of their Munich rivals, but must do so without the services of their Supercup hat-trick hero Olmo, who is out injured alongside Timo Werner and Willi Orban.

Bayern Munich have scored 15 goals in their last three games, but they did concede three in their 4-3 Champions League success against Manchester United, which exposed their defensive vulnerabilities against decent opposition.

Suggested bet: Bayern Munich to win to both teams to score

The Bundesliga champions have bounced back from that Supercup defeat to go unbeaten in seven subsequent outings, with six wins split by a 2-2 draw with leverkusen, who equalised with a stoppage-time penalty.

Big summer signing Harry Kane has hit the ground running to bag seven goals already, including a hat-trick in last weekend’s 7-0 demolition of newly-promoted Bochum.

Kane is the first player in Bayern’s history to score seven goals in his first five Bundesliga games. In the first German league, only Haaland had a better start (8 goals in his first 5 games for Dortmund).

Kane to score at any time looks good value to keep that run going, while a bolder bet would be for him to open the scoring for his team, especially as he is also Bayern’s designated penalty-taker.

Suggested bet: Harry Kane to be first Bayern goalscorer

The Bundesliag champions have scored 15 goals in their last three games, but they did concede three in their 4-3 Champions League success against Manchester United, which exposed their defensive vulnerabilities against decent opposition.

Manuel Neuer is still unavailable for Bayern, and he will be joined by Serge Gabry who suffered an injury in the midweek cup win against Preussen Munster, while Matthijs de Ligt is also doubtful.
