Planet Sport Bet's Robbie Savage thinks title challengers Liverpool can get the better of Brighton at the AMEX on Super Sunday.

Obviously Brighton got hammered 6-1 last weekend against Aston Villa, tough game against Marseille coming back so well to draw 2-2. Liverpool were quite comfortable in their win.

I think Brighton played a quite strong team against Marseille and I think Liverpool will go, in this game, very very strong. I think Liverpool have better strength in depth than Brighton.

I think Liverpool, for me, will be Man City’s biggest title contenders along with Arsenal.

Even though Brighton are doing unbelievably well, I’m going for both teams to score in a Liverpool 2-1 win.

    Robbie’s Tip: Brighton 1-2 Liverpool

    Brighton vs Liverpool team news

Pervis Estupinan has been ruled out in a major blow for Brighton. He’ll join Julio Enciso, James Milner, Adam Lallana and Jakud Moder in the treatment room.

If Roberto De Zerbi rotates, Carlos Caleba could feature in midfield, with Simon Adingra, Evan Ferguson and Joao Pedro featuring in attack.

Cody Gakpo, Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic and Ciaomhin Kelleher are unavailable due to injury, while Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones will serve a suspension.

Jurgen Klopp was able to rest Mohammed Salah and Darwin Nunez for the second half, with Trent-Alexander Arnold coming off after 63 minutes and Virgil van Dijk an unused sub.

    Key stats

    - Brighton are averaging two goals against per game this season.
    - Seven of Brighton’s 10 matches have had over 3.5 goals.
    - Both teams have scored in Liverpool’s previous six away league matches.
    - Over 3.5 goals has been a winning bet in seven of 10 Liverpool games.

Planet Sport’s other bets to consider

Brighton are now averaging two goals against in all competitions, but they’ve scored at least twice in seven of 10 themselves.

Klopp’s team have conceded in eight of 10 and all five of their away games, but they’ve also scored at least twice in eight of those matches.

There’s no doubt Salah, Nunez and Diaz will get plenty of chances, while Joao Pedro and Evan Ferguson lead Brighton with five and four goals respectively.

Despite his influence, it’s interesting to note Salah has netted just three times in 16 Premier League away matches in 2023. That’s a stark difference from the 12 in 13 he has at home.

Brighton have trailed 1-0 inside 25 minutes in four of five, and 2-0 inside 20 minutes in their last two matches.

The visiting Reds have only led twice at half-time in the Premier League and they’ve conceded in the opening 45 minutes on six occasions.

With those stats in mind, backing the first goal to come inside 30 minutes is worthwhile. If you’re adventurous, then a goal inside 15 minutes will be a juicy price.

Darwin Nunez or Evan Ferguson to score
