Olympiacos vs Fenerbache tips and predictions: Fireworks on and off the pitch in spectacle in Greece

Greek club Olympiacos will square up to Turkish giants Fenerbache in the Europa Conference League on Thursday evening (1745 BST).
The two-legged tie will represent the third and fourth time the clubs have clashed this season, with Olympiacos beating Fenerbache 3-0 and 1-0 in the group stage.
The hosts have endured a wild ride this season, struggling in their domestic league at times and sacking two managers, which allowed for the arrival of Jose Luis Mendilibar.
He’s picked up 2.25 points per game at the helm and oversaw a piece of club history in the previous round, overturning a three-goal deficit to see off Maccabi Tel Aviv.
The Israeli side put on a perfect away performance when claiming a 4-1 first-leg lead in Greece, but Olympiacos won the reverse fixture 4-1 in 90 minutes and added two more goals in extra time.
There’s no sensible middle ground with Mendilibar’s side as they’ve produced 12 wins and four defeats in their last 16 contests.
Fenerbache also made headline news for their most recent cup exploits, fielding the under-19s in the Turkish Super Cup and walking off after Mauro Icardi’s early goal.
However, things are going swimmingly in Europe. They may want out of the Super Lig, but they’re very much in Europe after a 3-1 aggregate win over Union Saint-Gilloise.
Six wins on the spin and a 20-match unbeaten streak have them sitting pretty in the league, just two points behind Galatasaray, and brimming with confidence.
Their previous five matches have averaged four goals and they struggle to keep clean sheets, so over 2.5 goals and both teams to score looks likely, but Fenerbache are more likely to win.
