Germany vs Netherlands tips and prediction: Euro hosts out to prove critics wrong in latest friendly

Germany continue their preparations for a home European Championship when they take on their biggest rivals Netherlands this Tuesday night (1945 GMT).

Are you one of those people who wrote Germany off? Join the club. Then again, is there anybody out there who didn’t?

Without doubt, 2023 was the single worst calendar year in German football history. The national side lost six of 11 matches and picked up just three victories.

Despite hosting the European Championships, few put Germany on the list of top contenders for the title.

However, that sentiment has somewhat changed. Friendly or not, Germany’s 2-0 victory over France away in Lyon last Saturday night was very impressive.

Julian Nagelsmann has a nice mixture of experience and youth in his squad and the former Bayern Munich boss appears to be putting the pieces into place.

Tuesday’s clash with the Netherlands will certainly tell us more about Germany’s title aspirations. That is primarily because the Netherlands themselves are also targeting a big run at the Euros in the summer.

Last Friday, Ronald Koeman’s side thrashed Scotland 4-0 over in Amsterdam to extend their match winning run to four games.

The Netherlands haven’t conceded a goal in over 360 minutes of international football and have scored 12 goals along the way.

Looking at the recent head-to-heads, four of the last five meetings have produced over 2.5 goals. We’re sticking with that trend and are backing another high-scoring encounter.

Both teams to get on the scoresheet and over 3.5 goals is the way to go in the betting. Florian Wirtz to score his third goal in three matches for club and country is also an enticing offer.

Key stats

- Netherlands have won four straight matches

- Both teams have scored in 22 of the previous 27 H2Hs

- Germany have only won three of their last 11 international games

- Six of the last 11 H2Hs have ended in draws

Suggested bets

Both teams to score

Over 3.5 goals

Florian Wirtz to score anytime
