Fenerbahce vs Galatasaray tips and predictions: Goal-mad derby on the cards in Istanbul

The Turkish Super Lig have dished out a classic Istanbul derby fixture on Christmas Eve as the top two title contenders go head-to-head.
League leaders Fenerbahce host second-placed Galatasaray in a mega-fixture this Sunday night – a match which could have a major impact on the title race over in Turkey.
As things stand, there’s very little separating the two clubs. Both teams are on 43 points, both have won 14 games and both have suffered just one defeat.
While Fenerbahce are the top scorers in the competition with 44 goals to their name, Galatasaray are the masters of defence having conceded just nine times in the league this season.
Both teams have lost just one of their last six games across all competitions and both are coming into the match on the back of victories.
Fenerbahce, for instance, were involved in a thriller last Wednesday as they picked up a 4-3 away victory over Kayserispor – a match that not only saw seven goals but also two red cards, seven yellows and two penalties.
Galatasaray, on the other hand, edged Karagumruk 1-0 to extend their unbeaten home run to five-straight games.
Interestingly, this derby fixture was already played twice in 2023, with Galatasaray picking up successive 3-0 victories.
A repeat of that seems rather unlikely considering Fenerbahce’s recent output in goals – 15 in their last four games alone.
Galatasaray’s output isn’t too bad either with the team finding the back of the net nine times across their last five outings.
Bearing all that in mind, we’re backing Sunday’s derby to produce goals-galore. Both teams to score and over 3.5 goals is the way to go in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.
