Planet Sport Bet ambassador Robbie Savage is predicting it won’t be all fine wine and sunshine for Brighton in Southern France.

Both teams not in great form. Marseille have conceded 10 in their last three, Brighton have conceded 11 in their last four.

Brighton lost the first game in their group and they’ll need to bounce back here in Marseille, but I can’t see it.

I think Marseille will beat Brighton. I think both teams to score because both can’t keep clean sheets.

    I’m going with a 3-1 Marseille win.

    Robbie’s Tip: Marseille 3-1 Brighton

    Marseille vs Brighton team news

Geoffrey Kondogbia is the only absentee for the hosts so Valentin Rongier will start in midfield.

Iliman Ndiaye, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ismaila Sarr have all recently moved to Marseille from English clubs.

Brighton will be without midfielders James Milner and Pascal Gross on Thursday. Julio Enciso and Jakub Moder are also out.

Mahmoud Dahoud and Caros Baleba should man the midfield while Joao Pedro supports Evan Ferguson in attack.

    Key stats

    - Marseille have just conceded three goals in three consecutive games for the first time this century.

    - Marseille have won one of their last eight European home games against English teams.

    - Brighton haven’t kept a competitive clean sheet since beating Arsenal 3-0 in May.

    - Brighton have averaged 2.05 goals per game away from home in 2023.

Planet Sport’s other bets to consider

Brighton’s style and defensive deficiencies were exposed by AEK Athens and Roberto De Zerbi’s side have conceded eight in three since.

Granted, Aston Villa rattled six of those in, but it goes to show what can happen when the Seagulls get it wrong.

They’ve conceded in each of their nine matches in all competitions this season.

Marseille are in no form at all having won just two of their opening 10 matches.

They were dumped out of the Champions League by Panathinaikos in August but they did come from behind twice to secure a 3-3 draw away to Ajax on matchday one.

The French side did start the Ligue 1 season with two wins and three draws, but the form table will tell you they’re winless in five and have conceded at least three in their last three.

They’ve also conceded at least one goal in 12 of their last 13 Champions League or Europa League proper games.

Aubameyang has scored four goals in three matches in Europe while Pedro was nearly Brighton’s two-goal hero last time out.

    Marseille to win

Over 2.5 goals and both teams score
