England U21 vs Germany U21 tips: High-scoring game could be on cards

England Under-21 will take on Germany Under-21 in the final group stage game of the Euro Under-21 Championship at Adjarabet Arena in Batumi.

England versus Germany is one of the strongest match-ups so far at the Euro Under-21 Championship, but it won't decide which team will win the group.

Two wins against Israel and the Czech Republic mean the Three Lions have already secured top spot while defending champions Germany are close to being eliminated. They have only one point from their first two games which means victory here is vital. Even then, a win may not be enough for the Germans, who also need Israel to beat the Czech Republic.

England have had no problems in their first two games at the Euro Under-21 Championship.

They opened their account with a 2-0 win against the Czech Republic. In the second game, the Three Lions repeated that result against Israel thanks to goals from Anthony Gordon (Newcastle) and Emile Smith Rowe (Arsenal).
Lee Carsley's men have six points and are guaranteed top spot. In the quarter-finals, they will face the second-placed side from Group A.
With qualification secured, Carsley may opt to rest some key players. Despite this, he will still pick a strong team full of players connected with Premier League clubs. In the starting XI we could see names like Oliver Skipp (Tottenham), Jacob Ramsey (Aston Villa), Cole Palmer (Manchester City) and Harvey Elliott (Liverpool).
Suggested bet: Draw
On the other hand, the Germans have had a slow start at this tournament, only managing a 1-1 draw against Israel.
Things then went from bad to worse as they suffered a defeat in their second game, 1-2 against the Czech Republic. Angelo Stiller (Hoffenheim) scored an equaliser, but Martin Vitik scored the winning goal in the 87th minute of the game.
This means that Germany have only one point from two games and find themselves two points behind the Czech Republic. The Germans are also at a disadvantage when it comes to direct results, which is the criteria that will separate the teams should they finish on the same number of points.
Manager Antonio Di Salvo didn't use Youssoufa Moukoko (Borussia Dortmund) after his penalty miss against Israel, so it remains to be seen whether Germany's most promising player is picked against England. Against the Czech Republic, Kevin Schade (Brentford) and Jessic Ngankam (Hertha Berlin) played in attack.
The two national teams are among the strongest in Europe and have faced each other many times. Of the 18 fixtures between the two sides, both have won seven, with the remaining four ending in a draw.
The last match between England U-21 and Germany U-21 took place last year - a friendly game that the English won 3-1.
The previous competitive game between the two teams was in the semi-finals of the U-21 European Championship in 2017. The Germans won 4-3 on penalties after a 2-2 draw. They would go on to win the tournament.
Suggested bet: Over 2.5 goals
