Chelsea vs Leicester tips and predictions: Back the Foxes to ruffle some FA Cup feathers

Chelsea face Championship opposition for the third consecutive round in the FA Cup when Leicester City visit Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon (1245 GMT).

Chelsea snuck past a second-string Leeds United side in the previous round and will need to do considerably better against a Leicester City side who should go all out.

Conor Gallagher’s classy finish fired the Blues ahead at the death against their Championship rivals in a game they’d trailed.

The Foxes' bread and butter is the league but they’re not in action again until 29th March so they can afford to field a strong starting eleven.

Enzo Maresca’s side has come in for some bizarre criticism from fans despite the incredible points tally they’ve amassed, but they’re having a super season and look good on their travels.

They toppled Bournemouth in the previous round and have lost four of 23 away from the King Power, one of which was in the League Cup against Liverpool.

However, the league leaders have won one of five in the league due to the recurrence of City shooting themselves in the foot.

Wout Faes, in particular, has looked like a liability in previous weeks as he’s contributed to them pushing self-destruct when seemingly in control of games.

On the other hand, Mauricio Pochettino's team are unbeaten in three yet still conceded two goals in each.

There have been over 4.5 goals in four of five at Stamford Bridge and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see an open, attacking game strewn with defensive errors.

The Blues were fortunate to beat Leeds and they’ve only produced three convincing wins in 2024, all of which were in the cup, but Leicester have the firepower to keep this close.

Team news

Wesley Fofana, Romeo Lavia, Christopher Nkunku, Reece James, Lesley Ugochukwu and Ben Chilwell are unavailable.

Benoit Badiashile and Levi Colwill are doubtful which limits Chelsea’s defensive options.

Dennis Praet, Ricardo Pereira and Kasey Mcateer will be out until after the international break.
