Burnley vs Brentford tips and predictions: No thrills but Bees can capitalise on Clarets spills

The two most out-of-form teams in the Premier League go head-to-head this Saturday as Burnley host Brentford (1500 GMT).

Do you remember what your teacher said during maths in Year 7? Two negatives always make a positive.

You can’t argue with mathematics. Numbers are a universal language which over thousands of years has helped science to unravel the biggest mysteries in our cosmos.

There is, however, one exception to the rule. That exception takes place at Turf Moor this Saturday afternoon.

Burnley and Brentford are at the bottom of the Premier League’s form table over the last five games – the two negatives in this sense.

With both sides struggling, don’t expect many positive outcomes from what many are expecting to be a drab encounter.

Burnley are yet to win a single game of football since the new year, going on an 11-match winless run and picking up a measly three league points along the way.

The Clarets are 10 points from Premier League safety and with 10 matches remaining, they are top candidates for the drop.

Brentford’s numbers aren’t that much better. The Bees have picked up just one win from their last eight Premier League outings – six of these ending in defeats.

One excuse for Thomas Frank’s men is the level of opposition they've faced. Five of their last seven opponents are either fighting for the title or currently playing in Europe.

This is not expected to be a classic fixture, though we are backing both teams to get on the scoresheet.

Brentford to win by a single goal margin and Ivan Toney to get on the scoresheet also offer good odds.

Team news

Burnley head into Saturday’s fixture without Jordan Beyer, Lyle Foster, Luca Koleosho, Aaron Ramsey and Nathan Redmond.

Brentford, meanwhile, will be missing Joshua Dasilva, Rico Henry, Aaron Hickey, Bryan Mbeumo, Ben Mee, Ethan Pinnock and Kevin Schade.
