AC Milan vs Rennes tips and predictions: Back the Italians to end Rennes’ impressive run

After finishing behind Borussia Dortmund and PSG in their Champions League group, AC Milan begin their journey in one of the few competitions they haven’t won.

They were part of the group of death in the Champions League. It went down to the wire but the Rossoneri finished third with eight points, picking up two wins and two draws.

Rennes have won their last eight matches in all competitions so this promises to be a tough test for the Italians.

On the other hand, the hosts are in fantastic form themselves. They’re unbeaten since we last saw them in European action, winning seven and drawing two.

Bruno Genesio’s departure has turned out to be a good thing for Rennes as the French club is flying under Julien Stephan’s watch.

Last weekend’s 1-0 win over Le Havre was enough to propel them back into the European conversation in Ligue 1.

As well as they’ve done, their back-to-back losses against the Spaniards could be telling. All of their away wins during their unbeaten run have come against struggling teams or those in the league below.
