Passion on YouTube
Spencer rose to fame as The FIFA Playa in 2013, where he would challenge other YouTubers on the popular soccer video game, FIFA. The videos were posted onto his own channel, as well as popular football-based channel Copa90.
After a successful start in the YouTube scene, Spencer retired The FIFA Playa brand and changed his channel name to Spencer FC, where he would go on to thrive within the YouTube soccer community.
Popular series on his channel included Once a Lion, The Wheel of Fortune, Moore than a legend, and Forever Blowin', where he displayed his love of the game, his support of West Ham United and his imaginative twists to FIFA.
His passion and love for soccer fueled his channel, at one point achieving a total of 1.98 million YouTube subscribers.
Through his YouTube triumph, Spencer would go onto host the Wembley Cup series, sponsored by EE. The Wembley Cup would consist of two teams of YouTube stars, including legends such as Robert Pires and Robbie Fowler, battling out for the annual Wembley Cup trophy at the famous ground.
However, his success story does not finish there.
In March 2016, Spencer founded Hashtag United.
The side, consisting of friends from school and University, started by playing exhibition matches, which were filmed and uploaded to the Hashtag YouTube channel.
The side played against the likes of Manchester City staff, Google, and Comedians XI, gaining exposure quickly, as well as fielding the likes of Paul Dickov, Graeme Le Saux and Ray Parlour.
However, after two years of grassroots soccer, Hashtag became a member of the English football league system in 2018, joining the Eastern Counties League.
Spencer's dream had become a reality. After stepping down as manager he was replaced by Jay Devereux and Hashtag United began their climb up the footballing pyramid.
In their first season, the club won the 2018/19 Division One South title and were promoted to the Essex Senior League.
In the 2019/20 campaign, 'The Tags' were second in the Essex Senior League, a point behind the leaders with three games in hand. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the season was voided.
Spencer has two brothers, Seb and Saunders. Seb is a golfer who has won the Trilby Cup twice. Saunders is a travel and adventure filmmaker and vlogger on YouTube.
Spencer is engaged to his fiance Alex Osipczak, co-founder, and owner of Hashtag United. Spencer and Alex had their first child, a son, in December 2020.
Spencer Owen's net worth is reported to be £700,000.
