England cruised past Wales 3-0 to top World Cup Group B and send their neighbours back home. Planet Sport rates the players' performance from both sides.

The 104th meeting of the old foes was the first to be played at a World Cup and England comprehensively won Tuesday's clash 3-0 in the desert as Phil Foden scored either side of Marcus Rashford's fine goals.

Wales are now heading home with no wins, one point and one goal to their name, while England move on to face Senegal in the round of 16 on Sunday evening.

How did both sets of players perform on the night?

    ENGLAND

JORDAN PICKFORD: Hardly tested - although had to be alert to save a deflected strike in the second half. 6.
KYLE WALKER: First minutes of the tournament having headed to Qatar still recovering from groin surgery and staked his claim to stay in the side. 6.
JOHN STONES: One of the most comfortable World Cup nights a defender could ask for but should have added a fourth late on. 6.
HARRY MAGUIRE: Had very little to do and kept things tight, although almost deflected a shot past Pickford. 6.
LUKE SHAW: Always comfortable on the ball in attacking areas and has justified Gareth Southgate's faith in picking just one out-and-out left-back. 7.
DECLAN RICE: Enjoyed the midfield battle and earned a rest with another determined display. 7.
JORDAN HENDERSON: Found himself in some advanced areas in the first half but too often slowed down England's flowing attacks, much more suited to a deeper role. 6.
JUDE BELLINGHAM: A class act in the middle of the park for England, rarely wastes the ball and already a driving force at international level. 8.
PHIL FODEN: A quiet start for the man whom plenty called to get his chance but he was fouled for the opener and tucked away the second soon after. 7.
MARCUS RASHFORD: His first England start since June last year but was lively and scored two goals to move level with the top goal-scorers in Qatar. 9.
HARRY KANE: Still no goal at this World Cup for the 2018 Golden Boot winner but claimed his third assist before being taken off before the hour. 7.

    SUBSTITUTES:

TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD (for Walker, 57): Liverpool man is now seemingly third-choice right-back for Southgate but got his first World Cup minutes here. 6.
CALLUM WILSON (for Kane, 58): Lively and alert, the Newcastle striker proved again he could step in for Kane if required. 7.
KALVIN PHILLIPS (for Rice, 58): Like team-mate Walker, came into the finals after surgery and an assist on his first outing is a good return. 7.
KIERAN TRIPPIER (for Shaw, 65): On to give Shaw a breather and a fine option at cover on the left side of defence. 6.
JACK GREALISH (for Rashford, 75): Short cameo but showed some good touches in dangerous areas. 6.

    WALES

DANNY WARD: Saved Wales early on but powerless at start of second half and nutmegged for England's third. 6 (out of 10).
NECO WILLIAMS: Left dazed after heading away Rashford shot and had to make way for Connor Roberts. 6.
CHRIS MEPHAM: Produced some important first-half blocks but could not keep England at bay. 6.
JOE RODON: Punished for bringing down Phil Foden for Rashford opener - but was it a foul? 6.
BEN DAVIES: Switched to full-back, his mistake led to second England goal and left soon after through injury. 5.
ETHAN AMPADU: Tried to plug holes in midfield role, ended evening as emergency right-back. 5.
JOE ALLEN: First start for over two months and battled against the midfield odds. 6.
AARON RAMSEY: Unable to influence contest and has had really poor tournament on personal level. 5.
DANIEL JAMES: Went close with second-half shot but spent the game on the periphery. 5.
GARETH BALE: The Wales captain was totally anonymous in the first period and did not reappear for the second half. 4.
KIEFFER MOORE: Failed to make the ball stick but came closest to scoring for Wales with deflected effort. 5.

    SUBSTITUTES:

CONNOR ROBERTS (for Williams, 36): Could not stop Rashford scoring his second after switching from right-back to left-back. 5.
BRENNAN JOHNSON (for Bale, 46): Provided flashes of danger on right, set to play bigger role in Euro 2024 qualifying. 6.
JOE MORRELL (for Davies, 59): Some tidy touches on the ball in losing cause. 6.
HARRY WILSON (for James, 77): Sent late free-kick into England wall. 5.
RUBIN COLWILL (for Allen, 81): Late taste of the World Cup for the Cardiff midfielder. 6.
