West Brom welcome Pieters back as O'Shea heads to Burnley and Molumby edges towards Leeds move

West Brom have given Erik Pieters a one-year contract extension as Dara O'Shea has agreed a four-year deal with Burnley, while Leeds United have stepped up their interest in Jayson Molumby.

West Brom have prepared for the sale of Dara O'Shea to Burnley by handing veteran defender Erik Pieters a one-year contract extension.

Pieters, 34, joined on a free transfer last summer after leaving Turf Moor - and went on to forge a successful central defensive partnership with O'Shea at the heart of the Albion defence.
The former Stoke man fell out of contract at the end of last season but remained on Carlos Corberan's radar.

And Pieters has now been brought back into the playing squad after the £7million sale of O'Shea was confirmed.

The 24-year-old Republic of Ireland international has agreed terms on a four-year contract with Vincent Kompany's Premier League new boys.

But he will not be the only first-team player heading through The Hawthorns exit door this summer, with tenacious midfielder Jayson Molumby likely to be the next departure.
The 23-year-old made 31 appearances for Albion in the Championship last season, scoring four goals and flourishing under the guidance of ex Huddersfield Town manager Corberan.
Leeds United have reportedly stepped up their interest in Molumby, with the two clubs discussing a fee in the region of £4m, according to various sources.
Former Huddersfield Town forward Karlan Grant has also been linked with an Albion exit, with SPL giants Rangers tipped to make a bid for him in the summer transfer window.
Grant has scored 22 goals in 73 league appearances since signing for Albion from Huddersfield Town for £15m in October 2020.
