Wales vs Poland tips and predictions: Last ticket to Euro 2024 up for grabs in Cardiff

The final opportunity to qualify for this summer’s European Championships is upon us as Wales host Poland in a momentous play-off final in Cardiff (1945 GMT).

It’s now or never. No, we’re not talking about Elvis Presley’s 1960 hit single. We’re talking about the biggest fixture of this international break.

The Cardiff City stadium will be filled to the brim as Wales and Poland battle for the last remaining spot at the Euros. And what a spot it is.

The winner of Tuesday’s clash will join Group D at the tournament which includes Austria, Netherlands and France.

Many will fancy Wales to progress simply due to home advantage. The atmosphere in Cardiff was electric against Finland and it will only get louder on Tuesday.

Rob Page and his men put on a solid display in their semi-final match as they brushed the Finns aside by four goals to one.

Poland were similarly impressive against Estonia. Manager Michal Probierz watched on as the Eagles beat their Baltic rivals 5-1 in Warsaw.

Robert Lewandowski is often highlighted as the main threat, though the Barcelona man didn’t score a single goal during Thursday’s match – a fact which suggests that Poland’s attacking threat doesn’t solely come from the big man up front.

However, defence is an area of concern for the Poles. Estonia scored with their only shot of the match as Juventus goalie Wojciech Szczesny was beaten by a relatively easy shot from the visitors.

Bearing everything in mind, both teams should get on the scoresheet. Poland average two goals a game under their new manager while Wales will undoubtedly feed on the energy around the ground.

Everything points to a close encounter and we’re backing Poland to win by a single goal margin.

Over 2.5 goals is another bet to consider in what should be a fascinating clash.

Team news

Wales came away from their semi-final against Finland relatively unscathed on the injury front.

Poland, on the other hand, lost Przemyslaw Frankowski and Matty Cash during their match with Estonia.

The Aston Villa man will play no part on Tuesday, while Frankowski missed team training over the weekend and remains a doubt.
