Tuesday’s Carabao Cup tips: Cherries to stun Everton and Leicester to avoid upset

Check out our key stats and suggested bets for Tuesday’s third round Carabao Cup action which includes Bournemouth vs Everton and Leicester City vs Newport County.

Bournemouth vs Everton

It's been 27 years since Everton last lifted silverware and considering their start to the Premier League season, the Toffees' best hope of ending that run is in one of the two domestic cup competitions.
Frank Lampard's men have been handed a tough draw, as they prepare for an away trip to Bournemouth.
The Cherries have endured a frustrating time under caretaker manager Gary O'Neil. The south-coast club are winless in five games and have lost four in a row.
However, despite the results, Bournemouth have been competitive and can attribute some of their troubles to refereeing decisions.
For instance, it was an Aleksandar Mitrovic penalty which saw Fulham clinch a point against the Cherries.
Nine days later came the game against West Ham which saw a host of dubious decisions in a 2-0 defeat. Since then, Bournemouth also threw away leading positions against Tottenham and Leeds.
Everton, on the other hand, have endured mixed form, winning three and losing four of their last eight games.
The real concern over the Toffees is their away form. Lampard's side have won just one of their six games away from home and have failed to score in over 270 minutes on the road.
Bearing everything in mind, expect a close contest at the Vitality Stadium, but back the hosts to finally make a breakthrough and clinch their spot in the next round by a one goal winning margin.

Leicester City vs Newport

Leicester City have seemingly turned around their rotten start to the season and now have a glorious chance of making it through to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
The Foxes host familiar opposition in the form of League Two outfit Newport County.
Back in 2019, the two clubs clashed in the third round of the FA Cup, with the Welsh side picking up a shock 2-1 victory.
That year, Newport went all the way to the fifth round of the competition - something they haven't done since 1949. Despite a 4-1 loss to Manchester City, the club certainly enjoyed a memorable run.
Nevertheless, getting one over Leicester on this occasion will not be an easy task.
Newport are currently down in 18th spot in League Two and have won just four of their 17 games in the competition.
Leicester, on the other hand, have significantly improved and lost just once in five games - with that sole defeat coming against Man City.
The Foxes have won three of their four games, and scored eight goals in their victories, while keeping a clean sheet in all three outings.
With that in mind, our recommendation is to back Leicester with a -1 handicap.
