Transfer Zone: Manchester United mocked as City announce Haaland and Liverpool sign Nunez
While Manchester City and Liverpool have been busy strengthening for the next Premier League season, the same could not be said about former title challengers Manchester United.
The big news of the day arrived from the blue half of Manchester as City announced the signing of Erling Haaland.
An hour down the road, Liverpool were making moves of their own as the club looked to complete their capture of Benfica forward Darwin Nunez.
Over at Old Trafford though, the atmosphere was far more sombre as instead of announcing a world class star, the best United fans could hope for was being linked with Aston Villa forward Danny Ings.

There is still one reason to be somewhat optimistic for United fans heading into the new season - that being Cristiano Ronaldo.

Reading the post below, United will not only have to cough up a few extra million, but also sign another top European star if they are to get their hands on De Jong.
