Trabzonspor's dilemma: Paul Onuachu's uncertain future amidst Southampton's demands

Super Lig side Trabzonspor find themself in a conundrum over the fate of Nigerian forward Paul Onuachu, currently on loan from Southampton.

Despite his stellar performances, Onuachu's permanent move is hanging by a thread due to Southampton's steep transfer demands.

With negotiations at a standstill over a reported €10 million fee, Trabzonspor are exploring alternative options to fortify their attack.

Onuachu's resurgence in Turkey, where he netted nine goals and provided three assists in seventeen appearances, has endeared him to the Trabzon faithful.

However, the financial hurdle posed by Southampton have prompted the club to consider other avenues.

One such alternative is Hector Hernandez, a prolific 29-year-old Spanish striker plying his trade with GD Chaves in Portugal. Hernandez's impressive tally of 13 goals in 25 Liga Portugal outings has caught the attention of Trabzonspor's scouting team.

While Onuachu remains under Southampton's umbrella until the culmination of the 2025-2026 season, Trabzonspor face a pivotal decision: comply with Southampton's demands or pivot towards acquiring Hernandez to bolster their squad for the forthcoming campaigns.
