Spurs boss Antonio Conte making steady slide in next manager to be sacked market

Tottenham manager Antonio Conte's odds of being the next Premier League manager to be sacked are making a stealthy slide in the wrong direction, despite the 1-0 win over Fulham on Monday night.

With all the focus on Frank Lampard and David Moyes ahead of the 'El Sackio' last weekend, nobody has really been paying much attention to those managers bubbling under top spot in the sacking market.

Lampard was binned by Everton on Monday afternoon and West Ham boss Moyes rather predictably took over as favourite at 11/10.
Leeds boss Jesse Marsch is next in line at 6/1, followed by Bournemouth head coach Gary O'Neil at an appealing 7/1.

In fourth place is Conte at 8/1, despite being at 12s before the weekend started. Rather worringly he was as high as 20/1 the weekend before that.

Defeats to Arsenal and Manchester City won't have helped his cause, but usually a victory injects a bit of positivity into the market. But not this time, the bookies are clearly spooked.

Conte is out of contract at the end of the season, having signed an 18-month deal in November 2021, and Harry Kane - who himself is in the last 18 months of his contract - wants him to sign a new deal. Whether Mr Levy agrees is another matter.

Fifth-placed Spurs have struggled since the resumption of domestic action following the World Cup break, winning just two of their six Premier League matches, but Monday night's result lifted Conte's side just three points behind fourth-placed Manchester United, albeit having played a game more.
Conte's name was sung throughout the Fulham match by Spurs' away contingent and that will help boost Conte's morale after what has been a difficult year for him on a personal level.
