Aguero could be Barcelona-bound; Former Bundesliga boss confirms interest in Germany job

A potential development in the Sergio Aguero saga; RB Leipzig's former manager's odds shorten on the Germany job and more from the rumour mill this Thursday.

Aguero reportedly receives formal Barca offer

A report from Tycsports in Argentina suggests that Sergio Aguero has now received a formal offer from Barcelona to join the Camp Nou outfit, after his contract with Manchester City expires at the end of the season.

The City icon, 32, has seen most of this campaign hampered by injury and has not been featuring regularly since his return.

Pep Guardiola confirmed earlier in the week that any contract talks between City and Aguero would take place at the end of the season, but the Argentina international has already reportedly received contract offers from multiple clubs.

With a combination of Aguero's long-standing friendship with Lionel Messi and Barca trying to keep hold of their talisman, signing the City striker may help tip the balance for Messi to stay on at his club beyond the end of the season.

Barcelona remain favourites to be Aguero's next club at 6/4 with Sky Bet, while a return home to any Argentine Primera Division club is priced at 4/1, while a second spell with Atletico Madrid is available at 6/1.

Rangnick reveals interest in Germany job

After Joachim Low's announcement that he would be stepping down as Germany manager after the Euros this summer, the race to replace him has now started to take shape.

Former RB Leipzig manager Ralf Rangnick has now publicly thrown his hat in the ring for consideration.

"If I would still be free at that time, of course [I would be interested]," he told Sky Germany.

"Anyway, it is a question of respect. Moreover, this is a position that leaves no one cold as a coach in Germany. I would take off and listen to that [phone call from the German FA].
"In general, I can imagine many things. It's a question of timing - at the moment I'm free - but Mr Keller (Fritz Keller, German Football Association president) wants to take his time [to appoint a new manager].
"Now we just have to see what happens over the next few weeks."

Rangnick's odds to become Germany's next permanent manager have now come in to 11/2 with Paddy Power. Stefan Kuntz is now odds-on favourite for the job at 4/5, while Arsene Wenger is an outside shout at 13/1.

Barca join race for David Alaba

Barcelona are reportedly close to verbally agreeing a deal to sign David Alaba in the summer after his contract expires, via Mundo Deportivo.

However, due to Barca's soaring debt of around £1billion, they will have to sell first to be able to accommodate Alaba at the club.

A host of Europe's top clubs are trying to sign the versatile 28-year-old, but Real Madrid remain odds-on favourites with Sky Bet to secure his signature at 1/2 . Barcelona are 5/2 to sign the Austrian, while a Premier League move to Chelsea is at 6/1.
