  • Ronald Araujo Apologises To Barcelona Team Mates And Fans After PSG Defeat

Ronald Araujo apologises to Barcelona team-mates and fans after PSG defeat

Barcelona's Ronald Araujo experienced a dramatic shift in fortunes, transitioning from a star performer in the first-leg victory to facing immense scrutiny after the 4-1 loss to PSG.

The defeat resulted in PSG securing a spot in the Champions League semi-finals with a convincing 6-4 aggregate win.

The turning point in the match, as perceived by many Barcelona supporters and football analysts, was Araujo's red card, which reduced Barcelona to ten men and exposed vulnerabilities in their defence, allowing PSG to capitalise on the numerical advantage.

Araujo's performance drew sharp criticism from fans, particularly for his foul that led to his sending off around the half-hour mark.

Even teammate Ilkay Gundogan didn't hold back in expressing disappointment with Araujo's actions after the game.

In response to the backlash, Ronald Araujo took to social media a day after the match to issue a heartfelt apology to fans and teammates.

He expressed deep remorse over the defeat, acknowledging the disappointment and frustration it caused, indicating his personal anguish at the outcome.

"The football that gave me so much joy now hits me hard. I thank all those who are unconditionally by my side, my teammates who left everything on the field, and the fans who believed in this team until the end. I am very sorry not to give you this joy," Araujo posted on Instagram.

"We will try again. Forca Barca!"
