Romelu Lukaku set for Inter talks as he hopes to end Chelsea nightmare

The Belgian forward reportedly wants a move to Inter following an underwhelming season at Stamford Bridge.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Lukaku's team will meet with the Inter board about a possible return.
"Inter board will meet Romelu Lukaku's lawyer in the coming hours," he said. "Belgian striker dreams of returning to Inter but nothing has been discussed yet with Chelsea on formula, salary and more
"It's really complicated deal as Chelsea paid €115m for Rom one year ago."

Lukaku scored 64 goals in 95 appearances for Inter during his two seasons at the San Siro and inspired them to Scudetto glory in 2020/21.

His scoring form saw him rejoin Chelsea last summer but he has been unable to replicate his performances under Thomas Tuchel with just 15 goals in 44 games.

Inter would be unable to levy the kind of fee required for a permanent transfer, it is understood, leaving the Italian outfit to examine loan opportunities.
Despite scoring on his second debut for the Blues against Arsenal, Lukaku has not fitted in Tuchel's system and spent the second half of the campaign on the bench.
The pair have not been on good terms since the striker did a controversial interview with Sky Sport Italy in December.
The Belgium international said: "Physically I am fine. But I'm not happy with the situation at Chelsea. Tuchel has chosen to play with another system.
"I won't give up, I'll be professional. I am not happy with the situation but I am professional - and I can't give up now.
"I think everything that happened last summer was not supposed to happen like this... how I left Inter, the way I left the club, how I communicated with Inter fans - this bothers me because it was not the right time," Lukaku added.
'Now it's the right time to share my feelings. I have always said that I have Inter in my heart: I know I will return to Inter, I really hope so.
"I am in love with Italy, this is right moment to talk and let people know what really happened.
"I really hope from bottom of my heart to return to Inter not at the end of my career, but when I'm still at top level to win more together.
"I want apologise to the Inter fans, the timing of my words was wrong: what you did for me will remain forever."

Following Todd Boehly's takeover at Chelsea, it is believed the Blues will have funds to spend over the summer.

Raheem Sterling is a possible target while Lautaro Martinez and Harry Kane are also on the shortlist.
