Report: Bayern Munich in advanced talks with Fulham for Joao Palhinha transfer

Joao Palhinha's transfer to Bayern Munich is back on track with negotiations between the German giants and Fulham reportedly having reached an advanced stage.

The midfielder, currently preparing to play for Portugal at Euro 2024, was set to join the Bundesliga club last summer, only for the move to fall through at the last minute.

The Portuguese player flew to Germany for a medical examination ahead of his move to Munich and was ready to finalize the deal on the summer window's deadline day.

However, Fulham halted the transfer due to their failure to secure a replacement for the midfielder before the window closed.

Now, according to Sky Germany, the deal has been revived, and the 28-year-old is set to transfer for around £35-40 million.

Palhinha has remained the top target for the position under new boss Vincent Kompany, following a trophy-less season for the German club.

A verbal agreement is said to have been reached, and now the clubs need to finalize the details, with Bayern aiming to complete the transfer before the Euros begin next Friday.

The midfielder joined Fulham in 2022 from Sporting and was named the club's player of the year in his first season after an impressive debut campaign.

Overall, he's played 79 times for the Cottagers, scoring eight goals, and has built a reputation as one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League.

He is now poised to be a key player for the national team as they aim to replicate their 2016 success by winning the Euros.

Palhinha has 27 caps and two goals for the national team and is likely to start alongside Bruno Fernandes in midfield for Roberto Martinez's side.
