Real Sociedad coach Imanol Alguacil signs a new deal

Real Sociedad coach Imanol Alguacil has had his contract renewed by the club, having been largely responsible for their decent form shown over the last few years.

The 51-year-old Alguacil's joined the club in 2011 as a youth coach, then was promoted to the Real Sociedad B team as an assistant coach, before being in charge of the B side a year later.
In 2018 he took over the reins of the first team and is currently on a 199-match run, having won 94.
The news of Alguacil's new deal was confirmed by the club on social media, which noted that his deal had been extended for a further two years from 2023 to 2025.
Since Alguacil has been in charge, Sociedad have qualified for the for the Europa League, finishing 6th, 5th and 6th last season.
In 2020, they also won the Copa del Rey. This season they topped their Europa League group and are currently in third spot on the La Liga standings behind Real Madrid and top-placed Barcelona after 14 games.
On Sunday, Los Txuri-Urdin were in first round Copa del Rey action beating Cazalegas 4-1, thanks to goals from Robert Navarro, a brace by Alexander Sorloth and one goal from Mikel Merino at Estadio El Prado.
