Real Madrid face double challenge: Mallorca clash precedes Man City showdown

Real Madrid are gearing up for two crucial battles within five days, with the players fully aware of the high stakes.

Their immediate focus lies on securing a vital La Liga win against Mallorca today (Saturday) before turning their attention to the daunting Champions League quarter-final second leg task awaiting them in Manchester on Wednesday.

Carlo Ancelotti shares the sentiment that today's match against Mallorca is akin to a final, recognizing the complexity of the opposition line-up.

As reported by MARCA and confirmed by Ancelotti, changes are anticipated but not in abundance. The goal is clear: clinch victory against a resilient Mallorca side while also fine-tuning certain aspects ahead of the Manchester City clash at the Etihad Stadium.

Real Mallorca, buoyed by their recent results, face the challenge of returning to reality after experiencing their most significant week in over two decades having lost to Athletic Club in the Copa del Rey final. With the prospect of eight matches remaining, beginning with a formidable encounter against Real Madrid, manager Javier Aguirre's side aim for a smooth path to survival in the coming weeks. Mallorca currently occupy 15th place on the La Liga table.

Despite injury concerns lingering from the cup final, including defensive setbacks with Valjent, Copete, and Lato sidelined, Mallorca welcome back all available players for their showdown with Ancelotti's men.

Rajkovic is expected to return between the posts after a month-long absence, bolstering the defensive line. Meanwhile, midfield uncertainties persist, with Samu Costa likely to feature alongside potential options such as Dani Rodriguez, Morlanes, and Antonio or Darder. Upfront, Muriqi remains a pivotal figure, poised to lead the attack if Aguirre opts for a four-man midfield setup.

Both sides brace themselves for a high-stakes encounter, each with their aspirations and challenges as they navigate through this crucial phase of the season.
