Real Betis president reaffirms faith in Manuel Pellegrini amid speculation

Real Betis president Angel Haro has once again reinforced the club's steadfast commitment to Chilean tactician Manuel Pellegrini.

Despite tempting offers from abroad, including a lucrative proposal from Saudi Arabia, Pellegrini, 70, penned a contract extension until 2026. Yet, recent discussions about his tenure at the helm of Betis have surfaced.

As Betis teeter on the brink of missing out on European contention for the first time under Pellegrini's tenure, rumours have swirled regarding his future in Seville.

Presently, Betis occupy the eighth spot in the La Liga standings, tallying 45 points from 31 fixtures.

Nevertheless, Betis have swiftly rebuffed such speculations, a sentiment echoed by Pellegrini himself. Rejecting an offer from Roma, Pellegrini remains focused on the task at hand.

Haro emphasized to Mundo Deportivo that while uncertainties in football abound, there is no internal debate regarding Pellegrini's position.

"Internally there is no debate. When you lose, people can speculate. We are very happy with Manuel's work; he is happy and has a valid contract. I am surprised that this debate is generated," Haro said.

"There is no debate. We are happy, and in no case can we deduce from the conversations we have that there is an exit option. Then, football is also unpredictable."

Regarding the future of French midfielder Nabil Fekir, rumours have intensified suggesting Betis may seek to offload him in the upcoming transfer window. Haro acknowledged the challenges Fekir faces as he returns to form following an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

"We have to understand that he is coming off a major injury. We would all like Fekir to perform as he did in previous seasons before the injury, but gradually he is regaining rhythm; he already possesses the quality. He also needed these bursts of encouragement," Haro stated.

Real Betis remain resolute in their support for Pellegrini, emphasizing stability and patience as they navigate through the challenges of the season.
