    The UEFA Champions League trophy

The eyes of the world will be on Munich this Saturday night as Paris Saint-Germain take on Inter Milan in the Champions League final (2000 BST).

The 70th edition of the biggest club competition in the world is coming to an end, with two unexpected finalists taking centre stage.

PSG and Inter were both priced north of 20/1 to win the Champions League at the start of the season, with the bookmakers preferring Man City, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Barcelona and even Arsenal.

For the Parisians, this will be their second attempt at breaking their cherry and winning the big one for the first time.

The French club reached the final in 2020 during a Covid-delayed campaign, but a 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich denied them a place in football’s history books.

Winning this competition has been the club’s main goal since the 2011 Qatari takeover, though despite throwing cash around like Jim Ratcliffe at a discount store, they haven’t quite found the right formula… until now.

For the first time since their big money strategy, PSG finally have a feel of a team about them. Waving goodbye to the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos has done the team a world of good, and it could yet lead to a history making moment.

Manager Luis Enrique is not only looking to become the sixth coach to win the competition with two different teams, but he is also looking to lead PSG to their first ever quadruple having already conquered Ligue 1, Coupe de France and Trophée des Champions.

Inter can’t quite compete when it comes to this season’s accolades, but the one thing they do have over their opponents is Champions League history.

The club have competed in six finals, including the 2023 showpiece which ended in defeat against Manchester City.

Inter last tasted European glory back in 2010 when Jose Mourinho led the Italian giants to a famous final win over Bayern. Interestingly, Inter battled past Barcelona in the semi-final that season – just like they did on this occasion.

Inter will be relying on their experience, with just under half of the team consisting of players over the age of 30.

Many of those players were involved in the 2023 final defeat to Man City, making them even more determined to succeed on this occasion.

Meanwhile, you have the youth, creativity and attacking brilliance of PSG. The French champions made light work of Arsenal in the semi-final, and they are also heading into the weekend on the back of their Coupe de France triumph.

Picking a winner in this one is no easy task, which is why we are swerving the outrights and going with other markets in our bet builder.

Under 2.5 goals is our first tip. This one has landed in six consecutive Champions League finals – including two finals which featured PSG and Inter.

In terms of specific players, we like the look of Ousmane Dembele. The Frenchman leads the way for his club this season when it comes to goal contributions in this competition. We’re backing Dembele to have one or more shots on target.

Speaking of shots on target, we are also expecting PSG to deliver a lot more goal-mouth drama than Inter. There is, however, one area which we expect Inter to dominate. That is the foul count.
