Nuno keen to make England defender his first Tottenham signing

New Spurs boss wants to link up with Conor Coady again, while Danny Ings is also on the radar.

Nuno Espirito Santo is just settling into the Tottenham Hotspur hotseat but he already has targets in mind.
Top of his list is someone he is very familiar with - Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Conor Coady.

We understand Nuno has made it clear to Spurs' hierarchy that he would love to bring Coady to north London, given a centre-half is high on the club's summer wish list.

New managing director of football Fabio Paratici is looking for reinforcements and Nuno hopes he can be persuaded that Coady is the right move.

A forward appears to be high on Paratici's priorities and Spurs are one of the clubs looking with particular interest at Southampton's Danny Ings, who has turned down a new contract at St Mary's. Anthony Martial, who is believed to be a player Manchester United feel they could move on from, is another possibility.

As it stands, the most likely arrival for Wolves, according to bookmakers, is indeed Coady, rated at 11/4 to make the move.

We spoke exclusively to Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom to get his take on what Nuno might do first at Spurs.

"With pre-season starting for many clubs, Nuno Espírito Santo will be looking to bring in some new players at Spurs," said Rosbottom.

"Looking at who is likely to head to north London, Conor Coady is 11/4 to follow Nuno from Wolves to Tottenham, while Danny Ings is 7/2 to head there. Anthony Martial, who could be surplus to requirements at Old Trafford, is 7/1."
