Newcastle United women to culminate promotion push at St James' Park with Bradford showdown

Newcastle’s women’s team will take to the pitch at St James’ Park for the third time as their quest for promotion reaches its climax.

Becky Langley's side face Bradford on Gallowgate in their final FA National Women's League Division One North match on April 16, having played in front of remarkable crowds of 22,134 when they beat Alnwick Town 4-0 in the league in May last year and 28,565 for December's 2-1 FA Cup victory over Barnsley.

They currently sit second in the fourth tier behind Durham Cestria, seven points adrift with two games in hand and with the top two due to meet later this month.
Head coach Langley said: "This is an exciting moment for the team to play at St James' Park once again in front of incredible support. The last two times at the stadium we have received fantastic support, which has made a huge difference to the team as we continue to push forward.
"Once again this is a great opportunity to showcase women's football in the north-east and we hope to continue inspiring a new generation of girls and women to play and enjoy the game.
"Walking out at St James' Park is a special moment for everybody at Newcastle United Women and this will once again be an occasion to savour."
Co-owner Amanda Staveley signalled her intention to develop the club's women's team, which was taken in-house in August last year after previously operating independently with support from the Newcastle United Foundation, on the night her Saudi-backed consortium completed its takeover in October 2021.
