  • Manchester United Midfielder Christian Eriksen Hailed By Danish Coach After Bagging Screamer

Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen hailed by Danish coach after bagging screamer

Denmark manager Kasper Hjulmand was full of praise for Christian Eriksen who scored arguably his best goal in international football during the 2-1 defeat in Croatia.

With the Danes 1-0 down and only 13 minutes remaining, the Manchester United man took matters into his own hands and found the top corner with a thunderbolt strike from outside the area.

Inevitably, Croatia regained their lead through Lovro Majer and went on to claim the 2-1 win in Zagreb.

Nevertheless, Hjulmand was impressed with his star man, saying in his post-match interview (as quoted by Tipsbladet): "He does a lot of good things for us, he is constantly dangerous.

"He is good at so many things that he is both good at having far back on the pitch to set up the play, but also at having further forward in the pockets on the pitch.
"When we have him far forward, then we must get better at bringing him into play more times."
He added: "I think it is fantastic to have him back in the team, because he is doing excellently. The hardest thing for me is that I would like to have him in many places on the pitch."
While Eriksen's performance may have been a major positive, the result was far from ideal as it leaves Denmark second in the group with a game against France still to come.
Hjulmand added: "Christian scored a fantastic goal, but the most annoying part of the game was the two minutes after our goal.
"We know that it's about being extra compact, right after we've scored, but we weren't."
