Man City, Arsenal dealing with major injury problems ahead of crucial fixture

Manchester City and Arsenal are facing significant injury concerns ahead of their highly-anticipated Premier League showdown this weekend at the Etihad Stadium.

Both Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta are bracing themselves for potential disruptions to their starting lineups as key players continue to battle various fitness issues.

For Manchester City, the casualty list includes several crucial figures. Ederson has been sidelined with a hamstring injury sustained during the recent draw against Liverpool. Although he missed subsequent matches and international duty, his return for the Arsenal clash remains uncertain pending fitness evaluations.

Meanwhile, Kevin De Bruyne's absence from Belgium duty due to a lingering groin problem has sparked hope for City fans as he has been spotted training, although his match readiness remains a point of speculation.

The injury worries extend to defender Kyle Walker, who suffered a suspected hamstring issue during England's friendly against Brazil.

On the defensive front, John Stones faces doubts after leaving England's match against Belgium with an apparent abductor injury.

Similarly, Manu Akanji's availability for Arsenal remains in question after withdrawing from Switzerland duty following an injury against Belgium.

Turning to Arsenal, their injury concerns are equally concerning. Gabriel Martinelli's withdrawal from Brazil's squad due to a foot injury adds to the list, alongside Gabriel Magalhaes, who has been nursing an inflamed Achilles tendon.

Bukayo Saka also faced a setback with a minor muscle issue that led to his withdrawal from England's camp.

Gabriel Jesus, despite having a break to recover from a knee problem, remains a concern for Arteta as he aims to regain full fitness.

Similarly, Oleksandr Zinchenko's recent calf injury has raised questions about his readiness, despite featuring for Ukraine during the international break.

Arsenal's defensive options are further strained with Jurrien Timber's prolonged absence due to an anterior cruciate ligament rupture suffered earlier in the season.
