Liverpool -2 Asian handicap - 9/10

Match result
Liverpool beating Bologna shouldn't be in doubt. We'll give the Italians the respect any side at this level deserves, yet the odds of 2/11 for a home win tell a story. There's no value in that, so we'll look to the Asian handicap market.
The English clubs flexed their muscle on Tuesday, with Arsenal beating PSG 2-0 and Man City thumping Slovan Bratislava 4-0. At the very least, we expect the Reds to match the Gunners and suspect they'll go one better.
The -2 Asian handicap is priced around 9/10 with most outlets, which gives us the security of money back if they win by two and a straightforward earner if they're at their best.
The visitor's ascent has been a controlled one, going from relegation battlers a decade ago, to mid-table stalwarts before an improved finish in each of the past three seasons, culminating in European football.
They look a fairly well-organised side but the early indications are that they could slip back into mid-table obscurity this campaign. Their sole defeat, a 3-0 trouncing away to league leaders Napoli, reflected the gulf in class that still exists between them and the better sides in Serie A.
Will both teams score at Anfield?
The match against Napoli remains the only one they haven't scored in. That's hardly surprising, as not even Juventus could break them down. They also drew 0-0 with Shakhtar Donetsk in their first Champions League fixture.
It feels like whether or not both teams score is down to Liverpool. The Reds have conceded in four or five, previously showing an ability to dictate the flow of the game under Slot and strangle the opposition.
This is a massive occasion for the Italian visitors and they'll want to make a quick start, just as Atalanta did earlier this year, catching the Premier League side cold in a 3-0 win.
Energetic youngster Santiago Castro may seize the opportunity to shine, but we still think that Slot's side can shut out the visitors.
Salah to strike again
There's probably no need to start Mo Salah on Wednesday, but at the very least he'll come off the bench and play the final 20 minutes. However, he just leaves to play and he's central to everything this side does.
He came back and found the net against Wolves for us at the weekend, keeping up his run of goal involvements which has been a feature of our Liverpool Bet Builder's this campaign.
He's taken just shy of 70 touches in the opposition box in the Premier League alone this season and if the Italians give him an inch of space, he's likely to find the net.

Liverpool 2024/25 season outrights
Liverpool recorded a third-place finish last season and they’ll be hoping to hit the ground running and go one better under new boss Arne Slot.
There’s so much room for improvement at Anfield that catching up to Man City and Arsenal isn’t unthinkable, but they’ll have to balance Premier League duties with competing on four fronts, including the Champions League.
Liverpool odds to win the Premier League
Liverpool are 4/1 to win the Premier League in 2023/24, making them third favourites behind Manchester City and Arsenal.
They started the season at 7/1, but after an impressive start, where Slot became the first Liverpool manager to win eight of his first nine matches, they dropped to 4/1 and are seriosu title contenders once again.
Can Liverpool win the FA Cup or Carabao Cup?
Liverpool are priced at 9/1 to win the FA Cup and 8/1 to win the Carabao Cup.
The Reds lifted the Carabao Cup in 2022 and 2024, beating Chelsea 11-10 in a penalty shootout, before beating the Blues 1-0 after extra time two years later.
Like all of the big clubs, the defending champions have the squad depth to rotate their way until the latter stages of the competition where much could depend on the draw.
They’ve reached the FA Cup final twice in the previous 18 seasons, meeting Chelsea on both occasions.
Five of their eight domestic cup finals since 2005 have been against the Blues.
Will Liverpool win the Champions League?
You can currently back Liverpool to win the Champions League at 10/1.
They have appeared in three of the last seven Champions League finals, which is the same number as the current holders, and the team that beat them twice, Real Madrid.
Slot’s style will make them a major threat to Europe’s best sides this campaign and the impressive start to the season has seen the outright winners odds slashed from 15/1 at the start of the campaign.
Liverpool top goalscorer
Mohamed Salah is the odds-on favourite to be Liverpool’s top goalscorer this season, building on his tally of 18 league goals in 2023/24.
The Egyptian finished the last seven seasons as the club’s top scorer so it would take a brave man to bet against him.
On the other hand, Darwin Nunez typically takes more shots than Mo Salah, and we have to think that something is going to click this season regards his finishing.
The Uruguayan was guilty of wasteful finishing regularly but that didn’t stop him from finding the net 11 times in 36 appearances. He’s capable of better, so 3/1 at the start of the season certainly appealed.
After one goal in four appearances, it's now as high as 50/1 but still worth a punt for the very brave.
