La Liga news: Sergi Roberto hails Barcelona boss Xavi's positive leadership

Barcelona defender Sergi Roberto has praised manager Xavi for building up his confidence and giving him the best opportunity to succeed.

The 30-year-old right-back has endured many injury-plagued years at Barca, where he broke into the first team in 2013, but under Xavi he's found new motivation and optimism.
"From the first day he arrived, Xavi gave me the confidence to work and recover calmly," he said in an interview with RAC1.
"He told me that they would be waiting for me and that they had complete confidence in me.
"For a player that's the most important thing, to feel the coach's confidence."
Roberto has made nine La Liga appearances for the Catalans this season and has scored two goals.
The experienced defender has also helped out in midfield, which is something he embraces under Xavi's leadership.
He added: "Under Xavi, I played as a midfielder and as a right-back. I don't care about the position. I play wherever the team needs me."
