La Liga news: Barcelona expect a quiet January due to Financial Fair Play restrictions

Barcelona sporting director Jordi Cruyff has confirmed that the club will not be able to buy players during the January transfer window.

Prior to the 2022/23 season, the Catalans were able to activate a few financial 'levers' to sign the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Jules Kounde, Raphinha, Franck Kessie, and Andreas Christensen.
The new signings helped Barca take top position in La Liga, where they enjoy a two-point lead over arch-rivals Real Madrid.
January will not see any further reinforcements for the Spanish giants as the Financial Fair Play limitations will not allow further spending.
"As of today, we cannot sign [players] in the winter," Cruyff told RAC1.
"The situation has changed due to an accumulation of things that come together and make Fair Play complicated.
"It's not a question of one player leaving and [then the issue is] solved. There are several different solutions, one is not enough."
