Diego Simeone's future in doubt as Atletico Madrid struggles mount

Atletico Madrid's struggles under manager Diego Simeone have reached new heights, leaving question marks over the Argentine's future at the club.
With just one game to go until the midway point of the season, Atleti sits 13 points behind leaders Barcelona and is out of both the Champions League and the Copa del Rey.
"We are out of the Champions League and the Cup, we have the entire second round left to reach the goal," Simeone said after the team's 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey. "Then at the end of the season we'll look at what suits everyone best."
These comments, which seem to bring into question Simeone's own future at the club without prompting, have caused concern among Atletico fans.
With the team exiting the Champions League group stages in last place for the first time in their history, Simeone has come under more pressure than ever before.
"In my head I intend to work with joy and give my best from the day I arrived until the day I have to leave, that day that will surely come at some point," Simeone said in an interview with Marca.
Simeone's potential departure would have a major impact on Atletico Madrid.
He has been at the helm for 12 years and has built the team in his image, leading them to their most successful era ever, including two league championships.
