Kevin Stoger joins Borussia Dortmund from VfB Bochum

Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund have secured the services of Kevin Stoger from VfL Bochum.

The seasoned 30-year-old midfielder has arrived on a free transfer, poised to ignite the 2024/25 Bundesliga season.

Stoger, a Bundesliga journeyman, has left an indelible mark at his previous clubs. His versatility as a creator, whether through precise passes, set pieces, or lethal crosses, make him a potent offensive force. Notably, he's no stranger to finding the back of the net himself.

"I'm eager to immerse myself in the team and connect with the coaching staff," Stoger declared when unveiled. His hunger for success resonates, and Dortmund fans can expect a tireless work ethic from the Austrian.

Stoger's football odyssey began in Germany back in 2009. After stints at VfB Stuttgart's youth ranks, he honed his skills in the third tier with VfB's reserves. Subsequent spells at 1. FC Kaiserslautern and SC Paderborn showcased his mettle, but it was at Bochum where he truly flourished.

His Bundesliga journey took intriguing twists: Fortuna Dusseldorf, then 1. FSV Mainz 05. Stoger graced the top flight, tallying 42 appearances for each club and netting crucial goals. Returning to Bochum, he bolstered their midfield, amassing 64 Bundesliga outings and contributing 12 goals. The recent play-off fixtures witnessed his unwavering commitment.

Beyond domestic battles, Stoger's cup exploits include 21 DFB-Pokal appearances, where he showcased his flair. On the international stage, he donned Austria's U21 jersey 17 times, finding the net four times. His youth career also boasts 24 caps for the OFB's other sides.

As Dortmund await Stoger's impact, the midfielder readies himself for a new chapter in black and yellow.
