Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp refuses to dwell on Tottenham blip and demands winning response

Jurgen Klopp said his Liverpool players have no time to feel sorry for themselves and demanded a winning response against Aston Villa in the Premier League on Tuesday.

The Reds dropped points at Anfield for the first time since October in a 1-1 draw with Tottenham on Saturday.

The result takes Klopp's quadruple-chasers top of the table on goal difference level but defending champions Manchester City can move three points clear if they beat Newcastle United at the Etihad on Sunday.

Son Heung-min put Tottenham ahead on 56 minutes and Liverpool needed a heavily deflected shot from Luis Diaz to salvage a point.

Klopp said his players would have to deal with the minor blip and insisted the best response was to get three points at Villa Park against Steven Gerrard's men on Tuesday.

"First and foremost we should stop behaving like it is a funeral. In my life much worse things happen," the German told reporters.
"It is an important point, because it is one point more than before the game. From 1-0 down it is massively better, but it was not exactly what we want.
"Now we have to deal with it, but we will, we all know the situation."

Manchester City will be crowned champions for the fourth time in five seasons if they win their remaining fixtures but Klopp said his players would not give up.

He said: "We are now top of the table. My favourite situation is if we and City lose all our remaining games and we stay top, but we all know it will not be like this.
"I would love to sit here and say, 'Yes, City will drop points'. We will see what happens.
"My problem in the moment is not City against Newcastle tomorrow, it is that we play Tuesday against Aston Villa.
"The only chance we have for things to go our way is to win now."
The result saw Liverpool extend their unbeaten Premier League record to 16 games - including 13 wins and three draws - but they only managed three shots on target from 22 attempts against Antonio Conte's men.
Klopp suggested he was not a fan of the way the capital side set up defensively and took a swipe at his Italian counterpart's tactics.
"I don't like this kind of football but that is my problem, I cannot coach it," he added.
