Girona FC eye Pablo Torre return amid uncertain Barcelona future

Girona FC aim to bring back Pablo Torre for the upcoming La Liga season, despite his limited playtime last season under coach Michel.

Torre, currently on loan from FC Barcelona since July 2023, has caught the eye of the Catalan club, who believe in his potential.

According to a report by Mundo Deportivo, with Hansi Flick stepping in as Barcelona's new head coach, Torre's future at the club is uncertain. Flick is expected to assess the 21-year-old's role, along with other squad members, to decide on their place in the team.

However, Torre remains enthusiastic about continuing his journey with Girona, under the guidance of Michel, who has been confirmed as the head coach for another season.

Ivan Quiros, a source close to Torre, confirmed, Girona remain Pablo's preferred destination if he doesn't stay with Barcelona. This sentiment underscores the strong bond between Torre and the Girona setup, a relationship that both parties hope to extend.

As the summer transfer window approaches, Barcelona's decision regarding Torre will be closely watched. Girona are poised to welcome him back, should he be available, signalling their commitment to nurturing his talent.

In a twist, Real Zaragoza have also shown interest in Torre. Uncertainty looms over Zaragoza's current coach, Víctor Fernandez, and his future with the club. Despite securing safety this season, discussions about Fernandez‘s continuation and potential signings are ongoing. Names like Alberto Soro and Ander Herrera have been circulating, with Torre‘s name re-emerging as a target.

Torre first gained attention with an impressive stint at Racing de Santander, which led to his signing with Barcelona. Zaragoza‘s interest, reportedly spurred by Fernandez, could intensify if Racing de Santander, Torre's alma mater, secure a spot in the promotion playoffs to the First Division. Racing could become a significant competitor for Zaragoza in the pursuit of Torre.

Reports from SportAragon suggest that Racing's potential promotion might bolster their bid to re-sign Torre, adding another layer of complexity to his transfer saga.

Torre's future hangs in the balance as Barcelona's new management evaluates their squad. Girona remain hopeful of his return, while Real Zaragoza and Racing de Santander are also keen on securing the talented midfielder. As the transfer window nears it will be interesting to see where Torre lands next season.
